Kochi: The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court on Tuesday temporarily stayed the ban that expelled producer Sandra Thomas from the Kerala Film Producers’ Association. In November, the association had removed Sandra, alleging that she had breached its regulations.
The court’s order came in response to a plea filed by Sandra Thomas. It ruled that she could remain a member of the association until a final verdict was reached in the case. The decision to expel Sandra came after the association accused her of defaming its members by making false and unfounded allegations.
The dispute between Sandra, the producer of Little Hearts, and the association began after the release of the Hema Commission report. Sandra repeatedly criticised the association for its anti-women stance and claimed that producers were unwilling to address issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.
