Wayanad: Even though the tiger that spread fear in Pancharakolli was found dead on Monday, inspections will continue in other areas of the district where tiger presence is suspected, Minister for Forests and Wildlife A K Saseendran said. He was addressing the media at the Kozhikode Guest House on Monday morning. The minister also praised the forest department officials for their sincere efforts, risking their lives to capture the tiger.

However, he emphasised that the job of the special operations team is not over. The Chief Wildlife Warden and the Wayanad District Collector have been instructed to prepare and implement an operational plan to continue the search in other areas where tiger presence is suspected. Further updates have also been shared with the Chief Minister.

The minister cautioned against expecting a 100 per cent immediate solution to issues like those in Pancharakolli. He added that any lapses on the part of the forest department officials would be identified and corrective actions taken by the administration. The minister also stated that further details, including the cause of the tiger’s death, will be revealed after the postmortem.
