‘Jackpot winner bought 10 tickets’: Kannur lottery agency owner elated about win

Kannur: For the past 18 years, MV Aneesh, the owner of Muthu Agency, has been selling lottery tickets. But this is the first time he has sold a bumper prize-winning ticket. The lucky winner, Sathyan, bought ten tickets from his agency in Iritty, and now Aneesh is eagerly waiting to hear from him.

“It’s like winning an Olympic medal,” said Aneesh, a former badminton player, while speaking to Manorama Online. Once a regular player with the Kannur Badminton Association, Aneesh had to step away from the team recently due to an injury. He owns a total of six lottery shops, including four wholesale outlets. He was at his shop in Chakkarakkal when he received the news.

“I’m incredibly happy—happier than ever! This is the first time a ticket I sold has won more than Rs 1 crore. It doesn’t matter who Sathyan is; what matters is that someone won. After all, lottery prizes go to those who invest in them. Over the years, second prizes have often gone to tickets from my shop, but this is the first time we’ve hit the jackpot,” Aneesh said.

With a staff strength of 12, Aneesh has been running Muthu Agency for 18 years. “This time, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t sell as many tickets as I had hoped. Even so, I sold 20,000 tickets. Winning a bumper prize has always been a big dream for a lottery seller like me, and now it has finally happened,” he added.
