Kozhikode: The Kozhikode police’s investigation on the source of the MDMA caught from a hotel in Karanthur led to the busting of a Tanzanian gang who are experts in MDMA production. The arrested Tanzanians, including a 21-year-old girl, were experts in MDMA production and are linked to laboratories based in the northern states of India, the police said.
Kilekamajenga Davidnteme (22) and Myonga Atka Haruna (21), students at the Lovely Professional University in Phagwara, Haryana, were booked by the Kunnamangalam Police from their PG hostel near the university and brought back to Kerala.
A major breakthrough in the case happened when the police seized MDMA from two youths in a lodge in Karanthur on January 21. The arrested youths were Ibrahim Musammil (27) from Manjeshwaram and Abhinav (24) from Velliparamba, Kozhikode.
Tracing the source of the drug, the police took the accused youth to their lodge in Bengaluru on the first week of February. They further discovered details of their accomplice, Famil Ahammed, and arrested him in Mysuru.
The investigating team traced their financial transactions and found out the bank account details of David and Atka Haruna. The police said that the youths had sent large sum of money to David’s account. David further sent the amount to Atka’s account and it was withdrawn from Noida.
The investigation team included Kunnamangalam Station House Officer Kiran, Sub Inspector Nithin, Senior Civil Police Officers Baiju, Ajeesh Thamarassery and Vijesh Pullaloor.
